Welwyn Harmony Chorus is the only ladies' Barbershop chorus in Hertfordshire. We are a charity and have members from a variety of ages and backgrounds with a shared passion for singing. We have been harmonising since 1989 and celebrated our 30th anniversary in 2019.
Initially, a member of Sweet Adelines International Organisation, since 2006 we have been affiliated with the Ladies Association of British Barbershop singers (LABBS). We enjoy taking part in the annual Convention, meeting and competing against sister choruses from around the UK.
We are proud to have achieved:
- 'Reading Barbarettes Trophy' for the highest scoring LABBS novice chorus
- 'The Millenium Award' for the most improved LABBS chorus
- 'The Cheshire Chord Tropy' for our director, Nickie James, effecting the most improvement in their chorus
As well as competing, Welwyn Harmony loves entertaining within the community, supporting other charitable events such as Isabel Hospice and Marie Curie. We enjoy spreading the word about our style of a Cappella singing and can give illustrated talks about the world of Barbershop.
